Juliet Balcony Installation
Our installation process ensures a secure, weathertight fit:
- Site survey – We measure the opening and assess fixing points and structural requirements
- Design and fabrication – Your balcony is made to measure in our workshop
- Professional installation – Our experienced fitters install the balcony, typically in half a day
- Building control – We provide documentation for building regulation sign-off where required
All our Juliet balconies are manufactured from toughened safety glass that meets BS EN 12150. Fixings are designed to withstand the loads specified in BS 6180.

Building Regulations
Juliet balconies must comply with Approved Document K (Protection from falling, collision and impact). Key requirements include:
- Minimum height: 1100mm from finished floor level
- Loading: Designed to withstand horizontal loads of 0.74kN/m
- Glass specification: Toughened or laminated safety glass to BS EN 12150 or BS EN 14449
We design every installation to meet these requirements. For loft conversions and new builds, we can liaise directly with your building control officer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Juliet balcony cost?
Prices vary depending on width, glass type and fixing requirements. A standard frameless glass Juliet balcony for French doors typically starts from £800-1,200 installed. We provide free, no-obligation quotes.
Do I need planning permission?
In most cases, no. Juliet balconies are usually permitted development. However, listed buildings, conservation areas and some leasehold properties may have restrictions. Check with your local authority if unsure.
How long does installation take?
Most Juliet balconies are installed in 2-4 hours. We aim to cause minimal disruption.
Can you match my existing balustrades?
Yes. If you have glass balustrades elsewhere on your property, we can match the glass type, thickness and fixing style.
What’s the difference between a Juliet balcony and a balcony?
A Juliet balcony is a safety barrier with no external platform – you can’t step out onto it. A full balcony includes a floor area you can walk on.
